Synchronous Ikigai

ikigai /ˌi kiˈgaɪ / noun
One’s reason for being, which in principle is the convergence of one’s personal passions, beliefs, values, and vocation.
In the midst of the chaos of a global pandemic, beautiful connections began to be formed...

Across continents, through the wonder of technology, individuals of similar inspirations adapted to meet the educational needs of wee folk and grown folk. When the world seemed to be so disconnected, these unique teachers somehow found a way to bridge the divide and hold space through a mutual love of a certain kind of magic called MUSIC.

Musica Anima is an online collective of teachers from around the world who are inspired to bring children and adults back to the belief that music-making is not meant to be a performance art, but rather an incredible form of communication. Connection.  Every student is valued and encouraged to find the music within themselves and discover their own unique voice, so that they can become a part of this magical thing called music and maybe...just maybe... change the world.
Each educator who is a part of Musica Anima creates and hosts their own classes and materials, but ALL agree to remain true to the same vision:
  • To hold space to allow students to discover their innate musicality in their own unique way.
  • To teach classes that are developmentally appropriate and respectful of all cultures, religions, family makeups, and identities.
  • To recognize and foster the music-making ability within all students.
  • To provide an inclusive community in which all students may feel welcome.
  • To create materials and classes that are anti-racist and embracing of all life experiences.
  • To ignite a lifelong love for the magic of music, and a hunger to explore it beyond the class's culmination.
Musica Anima is a vibrant community and all of its educators are open to feedback from students and caregivers for students.  If you have any questions about any of the songs, materials, or lessons, please email the instructor directly from the email link in their bio, and they will do their best to address your concerns and make any necessary accommodations.
